Travel Photo of the Day: Little Rann of Kutch, India
One of the largest salt deserts of the world and definitely India’s largest, the Rann of Kutch or popularly known as Rann is a stunning place to visit as a traveler. From salt flats to prawn farming, from wild asses to pretty pink flamingos and from hard baked earth to a swampy salt marsh, this place has it all. Once upon a time, the mighty Indus river used to join the Arabian Sea here. Even today, it is believed that the Saraswati river flows underground. And if you dig in the Rann, you hit heavily saline (more than the salinity of the waves crashing on the beaches) water, which makes this land one of India’s best salt producers. In this picture are the gorgeously pink lesser flamingos.
