I have been often ridiculed by my close friends and family for not writing much about activities that concern kids. If you are one such family person, then here is something that I am sure you would love your kids to read. In fact, after going through this book, I know exactly what I am going to gift my nephews and nieces.
This book is very special. At its very root, it talks about one of India’s unique cultures and definitely one of the tribes that I have loved interacting with. It is a beautiful, simple and absolutely colorful story of Aamu, a young girl from the Siddi tribe of Karnataka. I absolutely loved the illustrations and the easy flowing tale and I do believe that this is something that will strike a chord with all the young ones out there. What’s better is that they get to read and learn about an Indian tribe who have their roots in Central Africa.
This is a brand new release and hence it might take a few days to hit all the stores. But, when you do, do keep an eye out for this book in case you have young ones in your house or in your circle.
This book has been created by Katha, a non profit organization founded in 1988 and that works in the field of literacy to literature continuum. These guys work with slum communities and municipal corporation schools to ensure that every child learns to read for fun and at a grade level. I think this would be a fantastic opportunity for kids to get into the world of social service!
