Khan e-Ehsan: The Luxury of Staying in a Heritage House at Kashan, Iran

Set between Tehran, the capital of Iran and Isfahan, the most famous city of Iran, Kashan, the desert city has an appeal that is unique to itself. It’s easy going atmosphere, its desert landscapes and its historical houses appeal to one and all. They appealed to me too on my recent visit there. In fact, the historical houses kept me enthralled. And it started with Ehsan House, the historical heritage house where I stayed during my stay at Kashan. The below review is based on my recent experience of staying 3 nights and 4 days here.

Ehsan House - Heritage in the Heart of Kashan
1) This historical house that has been converted into a heritage hotel is more than 270 years old and offer a charm that is second to none. It’s Iranian courtyard, traditional seating and furniture, its dome shaped top and its interiors offer a look from the Iranian classic era.

2) The people running this heritage hotel are lovely. They are super helpful and are always eager to help their customer.

3) This heritage house is set right in the middle of the old city and hence all the tourist attractions (Aga-Bozorg Mosque, all the main historical houses, the Grand Bazaar) are within close walking distance.

4) The beauty about this heritage house is that it offers luxury rooms, budget rooms and dormitories, which means that people traveling in all budgets can enjoy staying in a heritage hotel. Personally, I stayed at the dormitory and the experience was great.

5) The rooms have heating facilities and have running hot water. They even have western type toilets, which are difficult to find in smaller towns of Iran.

6) They have free wi-fi available and the speeds are also pretty good.

7) They serve simple free breakfast in the morning hours and their in-house restaurant serves tea and dinner. Though, the quality of the in-house restaurant is just about ok.

8) The hotel is about a 20 minute walk or a 5 minute taxi ride to the train and the bus stations.

9) The hotel also arranges tours to various tourist attractions and nearby sites.

If you are looking for an iconic stay in Kashan, I would definitely recommend staying at the Ehsan House. Personally, I like both the heritage hotel and the city and felt like I could just stay here for a longer time.
