Travel tips for visiting India

Thinking of visiting the Taj Mahal in Agra? How about the Happy Valley of Kashmir or the Golden Temple in Amritsar? Whether it's one of these beautiful attractions, or one of the many other gems India has to offer, there are lots of captivating reasons to make India your next holiday destination.

Along with planning what you'll be doing and seeing while in India, as well as making sure that you are up to date with all of the relevant immunizations, choosing which airport you'll be landing at and which airline you fly with are some important considerations.

India has many airports to choose from, with 25 commercial international airports. Travel within India is also facilitated with over 50 commercial domestic airports. The cheapest international airports to enter India are New Delhi (DEL) and Mumbai (BOM). The New Delhi Airport, also known as the Indira Gandhi International Airport, is found 14 miles south of the New Delhi city center. There is a multitude of dining possibilities as well as WiFi access in the International Terminal (Terminal 2). The Mumbai airport is the somewhat cheaper airport of the two, but also the busiest. Its full name is the Mumbai Chhatrapati Shivaji International airport and it is located 23 miles north of central Mumbai. Similar to the New Delhi airport, there are many restaurants and food courts, and there is WiFi capabilities provided throughout the entire airport. If you're looking for a direct flight, then by all means one of the other 25 international airport could be for you, just keep in mind that they may be a little more expensive.

The next choice is which airline to fly with. The cheapest airlines to fly to India with from the UK are typically Saudi Arabian Airlines,Turkish Airlines, and Air India. If you don't want to settle for the cheapest offer, and comfort and services are worth more money Emirates, Swiss International Airlines, or KLM Royal Dutch Airlines provide an excellent amount of service to their customers.

As with any travel experience, the more you read beforehand, the less likely you'll have snags along the way that could spoil your holiday. Be prepared, and most importantly have fun!
