Myitkyina Kids: A Photo Series

Myitkyina is a river based town and hence it was no surprise that I was by the river every evening of my stay there. During one such evening while I was passing through the markets and the river side slums, I spotted a couple of kids sitting quietly by the river and watching a couple of their elder boys play a game of Chinlone, Myanmar’s favorite sport. They soon became interested in me as I started taking pictures of the game.

Myitkyina kids and their antics
They wanted me to take pictures of them and started posing for me. Soon, what was just one young boy, became a group of 6 to 8 kids and all of them started posing for the lens and started getting aggressive for the front spot. The fight for the prime spot was so much that they started throwing their friends into the mud (albeit in a friendly manner).

These pictures are the series of photos I clicked while the kids threw their antics by the Ayerawaddy river in Myitkyina, Myanmar.
