If you are in Koh Tao, this is one view point, you should definitely not miss. It offers a perfect panoramic view of the whole of Chalok Baan Kao and Thian Og bays all at once. The camera really doesn’t do justice here. You have to see it and soak the moments from atop those rocks to actually realize the specialty of this view.
From this point on the southern tip of the island, you can see all the way to the hilly north. It presents a wonderful photo opportunity to capture the spectacular scenery and the shallow coral reef through the crystal clear water below.
This point was discovered by Mr. Suwan, a land owner and his friend, Mr. John and hence the name of this view point.
If you are staying in and around Sairee beach, walk past the pier and into the Chalok Baan Kao village. From here continue south till you reach the Freedom Beach Resort. Just opposite the Freedom beach resort is a small walking trail that climbs up into the forest. Keep climbing up while watching for views. This view should come to your left. At the final leg, you will have to squeeze through some boulders and then climb some.
It is here that you will see this mind blowing view. Make sure you are carrying enough water and insect repellant. The mosquitos here are quite big. The climb from the Freedom Beach resort should take about 10 minutes.
I would totally recommend this view point to anyone visiting this island. I walked up till this view point only yesterday and was completely bowled over by the view.
Brilliant vistas. Nicely captured.
