Green Tailed Sunbird–A Silhouette Shot!
It was late evening and I was busy birding at the Eaglenest Wildlife Sanctuary of Western Arunachal Pradesh. I had a great time watching different bird species, but had a tough time photographing them in the low light conditions (For all those who are interested, I was using a Canon EF 100-400 f4.5-5.6 L lens, which suffers in bad light conditions especially in handheld mode).
This is when I decided to do some tinkering and take the bird shots as silhouettes. I could have bumped up my ISO and taken the bird shots, which I took, but it lacked the crisp texture of a silhouette (unfortunately, I did not have my tripod on me to take shots with lower shutter speeds). In this case, the silhouette is that of a green tailed sunbird (female). I think it adds a different dimension to bird photography. What do you think?
