I met this elderly Malnad couple during the trek to Koodlu Theertha Falls near Agumbe. This couple were staying in a small hamlet by the fringes of Sita Nadi.
They were completely separated from the rest of the village community, but this didn’t make them lose any of their hospitality.
In fact, they were kind enough to allow us to park our motorcycles in their house shed, helped us with directions to the Koodlu theertha falls and finally offered us sweet water when we returned all tired and energy sapped from our arduous trek.
And all this when they themselves seemed to be living in very basic and meagre conditions. And this quality of theirs appealed to me completely. I decided then and there that the least I could do is make their kind act known to a wider audience and hence I decided to click some pictures of them.
It was when I was pressing the shutter that I realized that this elderly Malnad couple made interesting portrait subjects too.
And off I went clickety-click to capture their portraits in different moods. I hope you appreciate the kindness of this elderly Brahmin couple from Malnad. May they be blessed!

Good. I appreciate your attitude. The man seems to be younger than the lady by his side.
ReplyDeleteI was confused too and hence asked the man and then he told me that she was his wife.
