The last time I had visited Tsomgo/Tsongmo (Changu) lake was in April 2009 and at that time, the entire lake and its surroundings was covered in a sheet of white. This time however, when I was there a couple of weeks back, I was greeted by a barren look.
There was no sign of any snow, leave alone ice. Instead, the surroundings wore a dull brown look. May be, it was the post-monsoon season. But, may be, I had totally different expectations and hence surprised.
But, after spending some time here, I found some interest in this high altitude lake and its surroundings. The small shops, the army bunkers, the bazaars, the yaks, the blackish-brown range of mountains surrounding the lake and the green water body in the middle all made for an interesting sight.
