Fall Colours at Kyongnosla Alpine Sanctuary

Kyongnosla Alpine Sanctuary falls on the way to the India-China border at Nathu La. It is a remote area in the Eastern Himalayas of India and hence very beautiful.

When I was here a couple of weeks back, I got to see most of this terrain in vibrant fall colours. The last time I was here, most of this place was covered in brown or black due to the extremely cold temperatures.

It looked like the fall colours were just forming as most of the vegetation was still sporting a nice green. A snow fed stream flowing along this terrain added to this place’s charm.

  2. Lovely pictures. I am wondering if you know where do we get best fall colors in India? I have seen fall only once in UK (Oxford and London) and was thoroughly mesmerized by it.

  6. Thank you Mridula! I am not sure about fall colours in india. In fact, I have hardly seen a true fall season like that of the upper northern hemisphere.

I guess the upper reaches of the Himalayas would be our best bet to see fall colours, but then, I am guessing.
