The East Coast highway of India is blessed with great natural resources and presents some extremely pretty sights.
One of the sights that captured my imagination while driving from Kolkata to Bhubaneshwar on the NH 5 was the magical sunset show over the Mahanadi River Bridge just before Cuttack.
The Mahanadi River is the largest river of the Orissa state and is a sight to behold during and just after the monsoons when there is heavy flow and volume.
This bridge on the NH 5 is about 1.6 kilometres long. 2 parallel bridges carry the road traffic, while a short distance away are the railway bridges over this river.
I was at this place just a couple of weeks back and the monsoons had not yet arrived at Orissa. Thus, nearly the entire river bed was dry and presented a flat brown deck kinda view.
I alternated between being a shutterbug and a nature lover as the sunset kept getting better with its changing colours and dispersion in the atmosphere.
I spent a good 20 minutes standing on this bridge admiring the awesome sunset show before continuing with my journey to Bhubaneshwar. It truly was an amazing experience!
