Ganga Maiya at Patna!!

A visit to Patna is incomplete without a visit to the Ganges. Locally referred to as Ganga Ji or Ganga Maiya, this massive river is the heart and soul of Patna.

Ganges at Patna
I paid a visit to this holy river from the Patna University side. The Ganges flows right behind the university campus. In fact, this bank is quite popular with the college crowd. One can also see excellent country side sights here. My best sight was the drying of cow dung cakes on the walls by the river bank for the purpose of bio fuel.

The river looked a docile stream to me, but from that very place, one can see India’s longest river bridge (Mahatma Gandhi Setu - five and a half kilometres) on this very river. How will this river look during and just after the monsoons? I am sure that the volume of water must be intimidating.
