This is a temple built entirely in white marble. Situated on the top of Naubath Pahad and close to the Hyderabad railway station, the Birla Mandir is one of the seven wonders of Hyderabad and is a magnificent Hindu temple.
The chief deity is Lord Venkateshwara, though shrines are also dedicated to other Hindu gods and goddesses. The temple architecture is a mix of South Indian, Rajasthani and Utkala styles.
I visited this temple about a month back and was not allowed to take photographs inside the temple campus, but managed to take some from the outside. As is true with all Birla Foundation temples, this temple is set at an amazing location anis built with great taste.
Travel blog of an Indian traveler living his dream of experiencing the world and inspiring others to live their travel dream. Focus areas are travel and visa tips, destination guides, experiential travel stories and traveling as a vegetarian.
Seven wonders! Okay. Charminar, Golkonda, Buddha Statue, Film City and Birla Mandir must have been included. What are the rest.
ReplyDeleteHere is the list of nominations...I am not sure of the final decision. May be you will have a better idea since you are a local :-)

Scene from top of Birla Mandir is amazing... Sad that no photography is allowed... you need to deposit everything at locker room...
ReplyDeleteI know man...Thanks to all these acts of terrorism, folks have become strict everywhere. And us travel and nature lovers suffer the most.
ReplyDeleteReally beautiful. Its amazing to view the temple when the train leaves Secunderabad and proceeds to Namapalli at night.
ReplyDeleteOh is it! I have never traveled to Hyderabad by train and hence have missed out on this view. But, now that you mention, I will keep this mind if I do get a chance to visit Hyderabad/Secunderabad by train.
