Moti Masjid or the Mosque of Pearls is situated in the heart of Bhopal. It is considered an important landmark in the history of Muslim women in India. This religious shrine was built by Muslim ruler Sikander Begum in 1860.
I happened to see this splendid mosque when I was making my way through the bustling streets of Bhopal. I am told that the architectural design of the Moti Masjid is similar to that of the Jama Masjid in Delhi.
A tight schedule did not allow me to go inside this mosque and explore, but I am sure that I will return some day soon to check out this architectural marvel.
