Tropical Trek that leads to a secluded beach

To the West of Havelock Island is the remotely situated Elephant Beach. It is remote, but is accessible to tourists and nature lovers via a short trek through the tropical forests and mangrove swamps.


To reach here, one has to be on the road that leads from the main bazaar to Radhanagar Beach. Just after the major right turn that leads to Radhanagar Beach, one will cross a police station and a forest check post. Just soon after on the right is a culvert. This is where the trek begins.

 
It is at best a 30 minute trek that initially meanders through cashew nut plantations before entering the dense tropical forests and then further descending into the mangrove swamps. The trail is pretty easy, though one might face medium inclines at some short sections.

 
Once the trek is over, an extremely pretty and secluded stretch of beach greets you. At best, there might be not more than 10 couples on this entire long beach. This beach is also an extremely good place for snorkeling.
