If you are planning a luxury holiday to Havelock Island in the Andamans, I would recommend the Silversands resort on Beach No.5 aka Vijaynagar Beach. Set in a secluded corner of the island, this place invites its guests with swaying coconut trees.
This place like all other resorts on Havelock Island is blessed with a great view. But, this is one place where you can get royally pampered if you are willing to go deep into your pockets. Though this resort is not as expensive as the premium Barefoot hotel chain, they nearly offer the same service. At least, that is my personal opinion. Further, you have Lacadives, the CMAS diving agency on the same property to take care of your deep sea diving needs.

Good to know you Sir.. See you tomorrow at Sanand...
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed your blog. For someone who wants to experience scuba diving which agency would you recommend aside from Barefoot for a crash course. And which beach would u recommend? Am planning a visit in Nov.
ReplyDeleteThank you Rajesh. I am happy you found the information helpful.
ReplyDeleteIf you have time on your hand to learn, I would recommend Lacadives, situated inside Silversands resort. They are CMAS certified and are slightly better than PADI. If you don't have time on your hands, then you can try either Barefoot, Dive India or Blue Lagoon. All are equally good, though I personally prefer the dive masters at Dive India.
All the beaches are worth visiting :-) Plan a trip such that you get to visit all beaches. Hire a bike when you get to Havelock. That way you can travel around easily.
Don't miss to visit Lallaji bay and Long Island. Might be slightly expensive to get there. But it is definitely worth and if you have time and money on your hand, try to get to Barren Island, India's only active volcano.
Cheers and Happy travels!
I'm a walker. Can Havelock be done by foot? How are the cycles on hire?
ReplyDeleteAlso, read about the crocodile attack on an American tourist near beach no 7. What's your assessment? And the stray dogs also seem to be a menace.
How's Baratang for a stay?
Very interesting.
ReplyDeleteYes, Havelock can be covered by foot if you are comfortable walking 20-30kms every day. cycles can also be got on hire.
ReplyDeleteWatch out for crocs. they are known to be in the swamps and marshy areas. but, they stay away from the open ocean.
The stray dogs are definitely a menace. I've been bitten there once myself. Carry a good stick with you and stay away from the garbage dumps. These dumps are their territory and stay inside the inn/lodge/resort after sunset...it is safer from the dogs.
Baratang for a stay is also great. Though, accommodation options might be limited. Though, I would no recommend Baratang in November. It will rain hard there and make life miserable. the mosquitoes won't help either. Go there for a day or 2.
Welcome to my blog Gusain. Let me know if I can help with anything.
ReplyDeleteGood to know you too Shrinidhi. Look forward to seeing you at Sanand!
