The North Bay Island located in the Andamans is surrounded by rich coral waters and offers a great picnic spot for the tourists.
Since North Bay is just a 30 minute boat ride from Port Blair, it is very popular with the Indian tourists. And hence, one can find a very Indian feel at the North Bay beach with shops selling pakodas, fries, chai and soft drinks.
Though, the beach is slightly rocky and the waters are shallow, one can make up by going deeper into the rich coral waters for a great snorkelling experience. Further, those who do not want to get wet can take glass boat rides to enjoy the beauty of the corals below.
On the beach, the rocks of various sizes keeps kids and adults interested and if you are in some wet zones, you might be lucky to find some large crabs.
Though the place is great and offers a fantastic tropical feel, it completely lacks tourist facilities in terms of changing rooms and toilets. Right now, the place just has some makeshift changing rooms. Is the Andamans tourism department listening?

ReplyDeleteThank you Loshini! There are a lot of techniques used to catch crabs! It is much better if you ask someone who catches them regularly to eat :-)
