Enroute Biligiri Ranganatha (BR) Hills, Karnataka, India

One fine weekend, friends decided to ride through the country side to Biligiri Ranganatha (BR) Hills in South Karnataka.

 
We chose the meanest of surfaces to ride on, but the beauty we received in return was un-paralleled.


These country roads didn’t have metalled roads and hence no vehicles. Only bullock carts were giving us company.


Sugarcane plantations dotted the sides. Interspersed were dried up paddy fields.


We also came across a couple of amazing lotus ponds.


Locals in their coracle boats were paddling in these ponds to collect their quota of flowers for the day.


We stopped by one of these lotus ponds to soak in the pretty sights. It was interesting to see the locals go about their daily duties.


What we saw next took our breaths away…It was a temple like structure where the eldest man of the village would sit on a chair of nails to thwart evil away.


Soon, we left the rustic country side and reached the winding metalled roads of BR Hills. The entire hills were dressed in green and it presented a very pleasing sight.


After a short ascent on these winding roads, we reached our destination and the last point on our ride – the Biligiri Ranganatha Temple.


We managed to escape from the notorious monkeys and made our way into the temple premises to offer our prayers.
