Pit Stop at Khandala in Maharashtra, India

I had been to the Sinhagad Fort in the morning. Then, I got back to my cousin’s place at Pune, packed up and started riding towards Mumbai.

Enroute from Pune to Mumbai on National Highway 4, I took a long pit stop at Khandala, a pretty looking hill station nestled in the Western Ghats.

This hill station, with its deep gorges and canyons is an ultimate beauty. In fact, it is extremely popular with vacationers from Mumbai and Pune. While I was here, I got some great views of the deep gorges, the Mumbai-Pune expressway set against the ghats, a train passing through a nearby tunnel in the mountains and some pretty looking houses settled on the mountain slopes.

Khandala is said to look very pretty and green in the monsoons, when the entire hill range is dotted with waterfalls. I guess it will make for a great pit stop when I am there in the monsoons.

  1. It is a very nice place indeed. Nice clicks by the way.
I often travel from Mumbai to Pune and stop at this place.
