India on a Motorcycle: My Solo All India Motorcycle Journey in one go!!

On December 1, 2008, I left home with the intention of travelling the entire Indian nation on my motorcycle all alone. I had quit my job as a Sales Manager at Aditi Technologies just to do be truly free! The  main objective of this trip was to enjoy myself and be one with the surroundings, especially jungles and wildlife. But, the hidden objective was to study the adventure tourism market of India and get first-hand experience. After all, my interests lie in starting and running a successful 'adventure tourism' venture.
I ended up covering 17,000 kilometres (kms) across 23 states in 4 and a half months till that day!

On April 15, 2009, I had a head on collision with a jeep enroute to Bhutan close to the West Bengal/Assam/Bhutan border. I suffered from a dislocated collar bone (acromio clavicular) and had to undergo multiple surgeries to fix this dislocation. Currently, I am on the recovery mode and am eagerly waiting for the day when I will be able to complete the remainder of my journey and the country.
In the meanwhile, I have put together various content sources (Route Map, Videos, Photographs, Blog Posts) to document and share my experience with the world. I would love to hear your comments and would be glad to assist anyone who is planning to explore India on his/her motorcycle.

If you can, you should avoid night driving and riding after drinking and always wear a helmet :-) Simple stuff, but always works!!

  43. Hi I saw your blog recently and liked it... could you guide me on how to start about it... did you have everything planned upright. or it was just start and end... whatever comes w'll deal with it... (kind off...). One more thing may I ask you the bike on which did you ride... the glory... I have 150 cc... so... was wondering whether it would take it or not...

    ReplyDelete
  44. I did it on thunderbird 350cc. 150 cc can also take it.

i had a theme (wildlife), but apart from that, my plans were very flexible. I went to a place, found myself some accommodation, stayed there. if i liked a place, i stayed longer. I i didn't like it, i moved on quickly.
